A Fair Resource Sharing Mechanism between Mobile Virtual Network Operators
نویسندگان
چکیده
Mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs) are mobile operators without their own infrastructure or government issued spectrum licenses. They purchase spectrum resources from primary mobile network operators (MNOs) to provide communication services under their own brands. MVNOs are expected to play an important role in mobile network markets, as this will increase the competition in retail markets and help to meet the demand of niche markets. However, with the rapidly increasing demand of mobile data traffic, efficient utilization of the limited spectrum resources owned by MVNOs has become an important issue. We propose here a resource sharing mechanism between MVNOs against the background of network functions virtualization (NFV). The proposed mechanism enables MVNOs to improve their quality of service (QoS) by sharing spectrum resources with each other. A nash bargaining solution based decision strategy is also devised to ensure the fairness of resource sharing. Extensive numerical evaluation results validate the effectiveness of the proposed models and mechanisms. key words: mobile virtual network operator, fair resource sharing, network functions virtualization

Adaptive rate scheduling for 3G networks with shared resources using the generalized processor sharing performance model
In current and next 3G and beyond wideband code-division with multiple access (WCDMA) cellular networks, sharing the radio access network has become an important issue for 3G mobile operators. 3G and beyond network rollout is a very costly and time consuming process. Therefore, sharing of network infrastructure among operators offers an alternative solution to reducing the investment in the cov...

متن کاملEnabling Fair Spectrum Sharing between Wi-Fi and LTE-Unlicensed
Due to the fast increase of mobile traffic, most mobile network operators face the congestion issue in licensed spectrum bands. Several telecommunication vendors and operators propose to expand LTE service to the unlicensed spectrum bands to relieve the traffic congestion. However, LTE in unlicensed spectrum may interfere with Wi-Fi communications in the same bands and cause significant decreas...

Radio spectrum has loomed out to be a scarce resource that needs to be carefully considered when designing 5G communication systems. Spectrum sharing is considered unavoidable for 5G systems and this thesis provides a solution for adaptive spectrum sharing under multiple authorization regimes based on a novel architecture framework that enables network elements to proceed in decisions for spect...
